A mountain retreat in the desert

Here we are just a few miles from Palm Springs where the temperature is closing in on 100 and we are in the mid 70's. We are in the town of Idyllwild at a mile above sea level enjoying our week with Connie and her dogs, Bear & Alex.

We have been on some great hikes in the mountains. This is the trailhead for the Deer Springs trail that climbs about 1,800 feet to the top of Suicide Rock, a hike of over eight miles.

Oh yes, only one mile to go!

At the top and the view was worth the hike.

What a great spot for a lunch break.

Idyllwild is a good place to get out of the desert heat and enjoy the great outdoors. We've had a fantastic stay here.
