Kauai!

We had a FABULOUS family vacation in Kauai! Before we went over, I was afraid that I had the whole trip built up too much and that I'd be in for a let-down. Well, let me tell you, it was WONDERFUL! Being there with our daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren was SO much fun. PLUS, we had my sister Sandy and some good friends, Sarah, Jeff and baby Marco to make the vacation that much better. We had 3 separate timeshares so there was some "alone" time, but we were able to get together as much as we wanted to.

We were so busy having fun that we didn't take enough pictures, but here are a few that we'd like to share. First, the Romios family upon our arrival at the Lihue airport. Taki & Heather have such big smiles for 2 reasons: that we're in Kauai, the location of their July 2005 wedding, and that Nikos was so good on the plane trip over!

Next, we have the 3 Roberts grandkids dipping their feet into one of the hot tubs at the Marriott Waiohai Beach Club, the timeshare on Poipu Beach that was their home for the week.
Kira, Mason and Maile were busy, busy, busy having fun all day every day!
Look how relaxed Vernie and Melanie look, lounging by the pool! I don't know how I caught them by themselves, but I'm glad they were able to get some relaxation in, after all the activities with the kids: fishing in the lagoon, jumping in the waves, playing in the sand, swimming in the pool, going on walks, etc.
Next we have Sarah and Marco, examining something very interesting on their pool lounge chair.
When Marco was sufficiently satisfied with the mystery-item-investigation, Jeff took him for a little walk around the grounds of the resort.
Here is one of my favorite photos, taken as we walked out of the airport and Maile exclaimed, "The plants are SOOO beautiful here!" She took Mason and Niko over to show them.
One night, we watched a gorgeous sunset from Poipu Beach.

After the first week, sadly the younger generation had to go back home but Sandy, Bill and I were able to stay a bit longer. After the Eagles beat the Giants, a game which we watched starting at 8:00 in the morning Hawaii time, the three of us took a drive over to west Kauai to see the Waimea Canyon (the "Grand Canyon of Hawaii") and the town of Hanapepe, where we walked across the Swinging Bridge over the Hanapepe River.
