Ok I guess you are wondering what J3 means. Well our tour for today is a snorkeling adventure in the Sea of Cortez at Cabo San Lucas. We met the captain of our zodiac boat and he said his name was Jose or also known as J3 because the company has so many guys named Jose. Thus he goes by J3. Go figure -- too many Jose's in Mexico! The first photo is a picture of the busy harbor at Cabo. Our captain showed off his talents by weaving around tenders, tour boats, fishing boats and water taxis.

Our next photo is Cindy and I in front of Los Arcos (the arch) at Cabo San Lucas. This is the spot where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez meet. This is our fourth time here and each visit we have had a great experience.

Frank opted out of this activity so it was Connie, Bill and I along with 3 other passengers plus J3 on a 16-person capacity zodiac. We had plenty of room to take in the views on the way to our first snorkeling site. The snorkeling was fabulous! We saw some of the largest parrot fish (Bill's favorite) that we've ever seen. Here you see Connie getting back into the zodiac to head for the second snorkeling spot.

J3 had mentioned that he saw a whale or two everyday, this being the very end of the migration here. We didn't want to get our hopes up but sure enough, he spotted a spout and headed for it. We were absolutely amazed at his ability to zero in on its location. J3 abiding by the Mexican rules (that the capatain makes up) got to within 100 inches! In the US the rule is 100 yards. It turned out that he had spotted a mother
and baby! In the next photo you can see the fins of both whales as they swam very close to our boat. It was a thrilling sight and quite a memorable ending to our snorkeling adventure!

Wow! That is SO cool how close the whales got to your boat. I can only live through your photo documentary, as I would have been puking over the other side of the boat and probably would have missed it!
