Okay, it wasn’t on the scale of a tsunami warning, but still . . .
Soon after we arrived in Kauai, we drove into Koloa Town for our Lappert’s ice cream fix. Surprised that we were able to find a parking spot right out front on that busy little block, we marched up the steps only to find that the storefront that formerly housed the Lappert’s Ice Cream Store was EMPTY!!!!! What?!?! No signs saying they’d moved or anything!
Peeking into the windows showed the place had been stripped of all evidence of its former glory.
Refusing to abandon our quest, we checked with a clerk in the neighboring shop and were given the welcome news that Lappert’s had relocated to a new shopping complex about 3 minutes away. Whew! Catastrophe averted! Here’s the new, larger shop which is in the Kukui’ula Shopping Village.
Thank goodness we could still get Lappert’s delicious ice cream close by!
