Chillin’ on the Garden Island

We arrived in Kauai last Saturday morning for our longest Hawaii vacation yet – 24 days. Being here, especially being on the same island for that length of time, really gives us time to relax and enjoy the aloha spirit. For the first week, we’re staying in Princeville, on the northern coast of the island. The setting here is absolutely beautiful -- we can see Hanalei Bay from our resort.

We’ve been spending a fair amount of time on our lanai: starting off each morning with Kona coffee, then later reading, people watching, or playing cards.

We have a view of two palm trees that remind us of In-N-Out Burger.

Although I don’t have any photos to post of our snorkeling, we’ve enjoyed that, too. One advantage of staying in Princeville is the proximity to one of our favorite snorkeling beaches, Tunnels. We saw one small turtle there and he was right next to the beach and we hope to see many more as the weeks go by. We also saw the tiniest humuhumus ever. They were only about 2-3” long. In fact, Tunnels is full of baby fish of all varieties right now.

Within the Princeville resort, there are lots of nice walks to go on, so we’re taking a different walk everyday. Here’s some of what we saw this morning.

Okay, enough for now . . . time to head over to the beach!
