We were out of bed by 6AM and headed out to catch our bus tour at 7AM. We had a busy long day planned seeing sites we haven’t seen yet. Our first stop was our new summer house. I named it Leeds Castle.
Before we went into the castle we stopped and had a small taste of mead, the alcohol drink of fermented honey and water drunk in medieval England.
The trusty camera caught two mead drunkards -- no, I mean drinkers.
our wine cellar master bath view from our bedroom
our butler Jeeves so come over and stay awhile.
Our next stop was at the Canterbury Cathedral, where the bishop was bludgeoned to death because he was loyal to the pope and not the king (by the way the king was the one who appointed the bishop to his post. They were childhood friends. I guess you don’t want to piss off your friends if they become king.)
Entrance gate to cathedral grounds the cathedral the pulpit.
The cathedral started as a catholic church but was converted to the Church of England after the bishop’s untimely death.
Our final stop of the day was Dover and the famous chalk cliffs.
Here is Cindy standing on the beach in Dover, the white cliffs behind her and a close up in the next photo.
Cindy is collecting sand from the beach for her sand collection. The only problem is, the whole beach was all small pebbles and no sand at all. I guess this is the real Pebble Beach!
We got back to our hotel a little after 7PM, just in time to have some wine and canapés at the executive lounge. Great way to end a long day!
