Yes, it started snowing yesterday morning while we were at the Newark airport, waiting for our transfer to New York to board the ship.
Even the pigeons came inside the terminal to get out of the nasty weather!
When we arrived at the port in Brooklyn, Bill braved the snow and increasing winds to claim our luggage while I took pictures. That’s Bill wearing the green hooded jacket.
Once onboard, the Captain made the announcement that we would not be leaving New York at 5:00pm as planned. Storm conditions were producing sustained winds of 60 mph and ocean swells of 20 ft. We would be spending the night safely in port, then sailing in the morning at 6:00am. This change in departure time meant that we won’t be able to make our first port call in San Juan, Puerto Rico. We heard a few people complaining, but most (including us) were grateful to be able to avoid the rough seas. Bill’s disappointed that we won’t be able to visit the Bacardi distillery, but that means we’ll just have to go there another time. It’s a win-win situation!
So far today, it’s been chilly (46 degrees) and partly cloudy, with barely noticeable ship movement. We enjoyed a stroll around the deck in the brisk air after breakfast.
We can’t wait to see what other surprises this cruise has in store for us!

What an unexpected adventure! Looks like you guys have the appropriate clothes though. Bummer about Puerto Rico but I'd rather miss the rough seas, like you! ;) keep the updates coming
