Okay, now that we are in London and our bodies don’t have the slightest idea of what day or time it is, what’s the best cure for that? Oh, a seven-hour, twenty-mile bike tour to the Olympic village of course! Our second day in London and I was wide awake at 3:40AM. So after tossing and turning in bed for another two hours I got up, checked my email and prepared for another day of planned activities. We left for the Underground (subway train)at 8:15AM for a half hour trip to our departure point for our bikeathon. We didn’t have to be at the meeting place until 9:15 but why not get there early to make sure we can get a bike!
As you can see above, no worries as the Aussies say; we had our pick of the litter. We were joined 45 minutes later by our tour guide from Holland and a family of four from Michigan and a family of four from Hong Kong.
Our Tour Guide Some of our fellow tour mates
We traveled through central London heading for the east end and the Olympic village. Some of the going was a little tight.
No big deal I hear they have free health care here and if the cars get any closer we may need it.
We did get some good photos of some national treasures.
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and his favorite watering hole down the street.
The Shard The Onion The Gherkin
(tallest building in the EU) (City Hall) (office building looks like a football to me)
And of course Tower Bridge (not to be confused with London Bridge which that yahoo in Arizona did and bought the wrong one)
After three hours of pedaling we made it to the Olympic Village.
Dut dut dut duh!
I rode all this way for this! Well at least we saw some visitors still here from out of this country and they let us take their photos.
I hear there are almost 200 of these guys all over the city. If Cindy hears that we may be in for an even longer bike ride. @#!&$ that!
