We started out the morning having our breakfast in the Luxembourg Gardens.
This is the building the French Senate meets in, located in the Gardens.

After breakfast we hopped the train to Louis’ house. (That’s King Louis XIV and the house is the palace of Versailles.) It took us about 30 minutes by train and another 10 minutes’ walk to get to the palace.
It’s just a small place in the country Louis rode out to meet us
We decided to go on Saturday because the fountains in the garden are operating in the afternoon. I think everyone in Paris had the same idea.
one of the least crowded rooms in the palace here are the lines for the restrooms
It took us about two hours to go through the palace. We had a Rick Steves’ audio tour that Cindy downloaded to her ipod. That worked really well. We got to see all the highlights without getting bogged down in the minutia. Once we finished the palace we headed for the gardens and water fountains.

Oh yeah, we did have a little lunch when we were there but of course it was outside the converted stables.

After hiking almost 10 miles today we are back in our room resting our weary feet.
