We sailed all night from Paris to our next docking in the town of Vernon, established in the 9th century where many inhabitants still live in restored half-timbered houses.
Our ship was docked next to the remnants of a 12th century bridge that was bombed by the Germans in World War II. A former mill is still standing at one end of the bridge.
A short distance from Vernon is the village of Giverny, where we visited the home and gardens of impressionist painter Claude Monet.
Monet’s home standing outside his studio
bridge used in many Monet paintings manicured garden full of spring flowers
Monet and several of his family members are buried outside the little church in Giverny.
Between his home and the church is a peaceful little village.
It was easy to see where Monet got his inspiration from. What a pleasant way to spend our day!

Wow, the scenery just seems to be getting better and better! The house style kind of reminds me of our house in Idaho. Tudor?
