Wednesday morning’s plans were changed because of all the clouds that were in the sky.
We had planned to do an early morning snorkel but with the clouds it’s to hard to see. So we relaxed and had our coffee on the lanai and planned our day. Baby gave us her idea of things she wanted to do.
So off we went to explore the west end of Kauai. Our first stop was at the Kauai chocolate factory at Port Allen. We sampled their Opihi (it is a Kauai shortbread cookie, with caramel and macadamia nuts coated in either milk or dark chocolate). Her is a photo of what it looks like.
Oops the sample was gone before I could take the photo. That will tell you how good it was.
Next we headed out to Barking Sands beach and the Pacific Naval Missile Range. You can’t get onto the base and the state park is at the end of a four mile unpaved road (recommended for 4WD only). So we nixed that idea and took some photos of the island of Niihau off the coast of Kauai. This island is restricted to native Hawaiians only.
Time to head back to Po’ipu with stops at some other favorite places. Our next stop was in the town of Hanapepe (this is the town where Lilo & Stitch was filmed) to the Kauai Cookie factory --- one of my favorite stops.
Baby made a new friend, Clare, who works at the cookie factory and she bummed a free cookie sample from her . Cindy helped Baby finish her free sample. Wow after that stop it was lunch time already and onto our next stop for lunch. We stopped at Kukui’ula , the new shopping village near Po’ipu. We decided to try the garlic shrimp at Savage Shrimp. He used to sell them out of a truck on the road to Lawai Beach before the shopping village opened up.
Baby loved the shrimp and didn’t want to share with us.
We got back to the timeshare and rested around the pool before Cindy and I headed to Keoki’s for a fresh fish dinner. Meanwhile baby stayed back at the timeshare resting and catching some rays.
