Monday we left Antioch on our way to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a reunion of retired Postal Inspectors and to see the world famous Albuquerque International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. Our first stop on the drive was Henderson, Nevada, located just south of Las Vegas.
This is a view of Las Vegas from our hotel room in Henderson. That is about as close as we got to Las Vegas (saved some money not going to the casinos). Tuesday morning we got up early and drove to Hoover Dam. We wanted to see the new bridge that was built to bypass the dam that they just opened.
The bridge is named after two veterans that were killed serving for their country. Mike was from Nevada and Pat was from Arizona, the two states that are connected by this bridge.
The bridge crosses the Colorado River just below the Hoover Dam (photo taken from the top of the dam).
They built a walkway across the bridge that gives you a bird’s eye view of the dam and the canyon below.

After our stop at the dam we continued our journey and arrived in Albuquerque at 7:30 in the evening.
