Fuhgeddaboudit!

Yesterday morning we left Beth & Ray’s and drove over to Newark to return the rental car and catch the shuttle to Brooklyn where we boarded the Crown Princess. I just loved this sign in the cruise terminal and had to get a picture. As you can see, it’s not quite centered because as I was taking it, a security guy was calling “Lady, Lady, Lady! No cameras! No cameras!” Fortunately, he didn’t confiscate my camera or even make me delete the photo, just made me promise not to take any more. Phew!

Everything went smoothly after that and we enjoyed the scenery as we waited to sail out of New York.

Early this morning we arrived in New London, Connecticut. Since this was the first ship of this size to dock there, we were treated to quite the welcome --- including fire boats and a fife & drum band!

Bill and I opted to go to Newport, Rhode Island, a little over an hour away. We stopped at the Visitors Center then travelled along beautiful Ocean Drive on the way to The Breakers, the mansion built by the Vanderbilts as a summer home.

Maybe it was the pleasant weather we had, but both of us knew right away that Newport is someplace we definitely want to visit again.
