To keep you up to date below is a map of our cruise destinations.
Today we visited the historic city of Boston. We arrived at the port and an MSC ship was already there. They were scheduled to head for Bermuda but with hurricane Igor hitting Bermuda they had to seek shelter in the port of Boston.
The weather was fantastic. Blue skies and temps in the low 70’s (my kind of weather).
Our tour was scheduled for early afternoon so I stocked up on energy food. Gelato! :-)
We took a walking tour on the Freedom Trail. One of the highlights was the Old North Church where in 1775 the signal was given of two lights in the bell tower telling the Minutemen that the British soldiers were advancing on Lexington and Concord via boats on the river and bay.
After our tour we spent some more time in Quincy Market. We saw a postcard with the ducks from the book, “Make Way for Ducklings”. Cindy has a rule we can’t send a postcard unless we see it first. We ask around to find out where these ducks were so we could see them. We got the general location from a security guard. We trudged back to the Boston Common, a 14 acre park a few blocks from where we were and started searching for the ducks. We asked one person who was working at the merry-go-round in the park and she said that the ducks were in the next block in the Public Gardens. Well off we go to the Public Gardens. We walked half way around the gardens looking for the ducks. We asked several people and no one knew where they were. We were about to give up when we ran into a lady walking her dog and she told us where they were (in the other half of the garden we didn’t walk in of course).
We got back to the ship after walking over eight miles on our short walking tour of Boston!
After dinner this evening we watched the painter, Wyland work on one of his fantastic paintings. What a great way to end a great day.
