We lucked out again today with our weather. Our ship docked at Halifax, the first of two ports that we’ll visit in Nova Scotia. What a beautiful province! Our tour guide told us that there are more kilts worn in Nova Scotia (New Scotland in Latin) than in anywhere else in the world. Who are we to argue?
The highlight of our day was a trip to Peggy’s Cove, named for a little girl who was orphaned by a shipwreck off the coast. The population of Peggy’s Cove is 46, but tourists flock to the charming little fishing village year-round to take in the breathtaking scenery created by the turbulent sea crashing into huge granite boulders.
Something we noticed immediately is the large number of lobster traps all over town.
Lobsters are big business in this area, and Bill decided to get in on the action.
An obsolete lighthouse (replaced by GPS technology) still adds character to Peggy’s Cove.
Everywhere we turned, we were impressed. Here are a few more photos to show what a picturesque area Peggy’s Cove is. This was one of the most memorable places we have ever visited!
