Breck to Frisco Hike

Our most ambitious hike so far was along the Peaks Trail, starting in Breckenridge and ending in Frisco. We walked from our timeshare to the gondola (.86 miles according to my Map My Walk app), rode up to Peak 7 where we disembarked and walked a short distance to the trailhead.

The sign says Frisco is 10 miles ahead. (Not a problem, since it's mostly downhill! The beginning elevation is 10,075 ft, climbing to 10,262 ft before ending at 9,110 ft.) However, when we came upon this sign, we were a little confused about the distance calculations.

Most of the trail was forested with lodgepole pines and aspens. Along the way, we saw areas that had been cleared to increase the wildlife habitat and to improve the health of the forest.

There were also bubbling streams and calm lakes along the way to add scenic variety.

Bill and I agreed that this was our favorite hike so far. Here's one of the outstanding views.

By the way, we took the free Summit Stages bus back to Breckenridge. No way did we feel like climbing back up the trail, no matter how beautiful it was!
