Bye Bye Breck

On our last day in Breckenridge, we didn't do any hiking or biking, instead opting to check out the big event taking place in town today. The finish line for Stage 4 of the 2015 USA Pro Challenge bike race was right here on Main Street.

There were all kinds of festivities going on. Before the racers were due here, there were competitions for kids of all ages.

There were booths selling cycling gear and giving away samples of energy snacks. Here's Bill showing off some of his loot.
We had never seen butterfly bikes before but we couldn't resist giving them a try!
While waiting for the racers to arrive we wandered around town some more, enjoying the perfect weather and gorgeous setting.

Those blue trees are part of the ongoing arts festival and their purpose is to "raise awareness and discussion about global deforestation and highlight the importance of trees in our environment." Not to worry, the paint is water-based and biologically safe.

The river was a popular spot for those not especially interested in the race.

This grueling stage of the race, which began in Aspen, was the longest distance (126 miles) and crossed over 2 mountain passes, one at 11,000+ feet altitude and the other at 12,000+ feet! The excitement among the spectators built as the time neared for the cyclists to arrive, and suddenly there they were.

We both agreed that it was an enjoyable way to spend our last day in Breckenridge.
