We're off to Breckenridge, Colorado for a 19-day stay to escape the heat at home. We made our first stop at the Donner Summit rest area on I-80, just a couple of hours into the drive.
As we crossed the salt flats we grew closer to Salt Lake City, where we spent the night after the 11-hour drive. The audiobooks we listened to really helped pass the time!
The next morning we left Utah and 7 hours later we arrived at Marriott's Mountain Valley Lodge, located next to the base of Breckenridge's Peak 9.
The view from our balcony shows the ski runs as well as the loading point for one of the high-speed lifts (on the lower right-hand side of the photos) --- a changeable view, depending on the weather.
We are within a few minutes walk of downtown Breck, which is an appealing, historical village loaded with restaurants, shops, and plenty of opportunities for people-watching.
We're looking forward to a great vacation here in the mountains!
