If it’s Saturday, it must be Southampton

Today we left our hotel in London for the 90 minute ride down to Southampton, where we boarded the Grand Princess. Along the way, the countryside reminded us at times of Virginia’s horse country and rural Maryland. In the photo below, we thought it looked like PA between Huntington Mills and Knoebel’s!

Once we arrived in Southampton, Flat John and Flat Mary Ann helped us carry our bags through the terminal and onto the ship.

We made our way to our cabin, then set off to explore the ship.  We looked off to one side and saw that another ship had pulled up next to us and was refueling our ship.  Can you imagine what the bill was for that fill up!

Well we found replacements for Sandy, Beth and Ray at our dining table for dinner.  They are John and Mineko from West Virginia.  John is a WWII veteran and his wife is Japanese.  She talks just as much as Beth and Sandy. John isn’t quite as lively as Ray was but he likes his ice cream.

We will be at sea the next two days.  It will give us time to catch up on our rest.
