Yesterday we woke up to sunny skies as we were cruising through the archipelago which leads into Stockholm. This is what we saw as we approached Stockholm, where we docked at 10:00 am.
We had planned our day in advance: First, get on the Hop On Hop Off Boat at the pier.
Second, get off the boat at the Vasa Museum. Hopefully you can see the 3 masts protruding from the roof.
The Vasa is a warship that sunk 25 minutes into its maiden voyage in 1628, only 1 kilometer from the docks. It laid on the bottom of Stockholm’s harbor for 333 years before being raised in surprisingly good condition. Due to the temperature and brackishness of the water, the wood barely deteriorated. The story of the Vasa is a fascinating one, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour of the museum. Flat Mary Ann and Flat John were first in line!
After the museum, we hopped back into the boat for the next stop, the Old Town area of Stockholm. There, we took a narrated horse and carriage tour. The tour began and ended at the Royal Palace, where we stopped for a photo with one of the guards. (This was as close as we were allowed to get to him.)
We left Stockholm with great memories and a beautiful sunset. Bill took this photo at 9:02pm!

Mason was looking at this post with me and as I was scrolling down, he said "There's Aunt Sandy!" Just thought she'd be happy to know that he still remembers her & picked her out in the pic! :)
