Monk(ing) around Rome

P1030017

Must be getting late with a title and a photo like that!

We did Rome on our own today.  We piled on a bus for Rome at 7:45AM. At 9AM they dropped us off near the Vatican, gave us a map and said they would pick us up at 3:45PM.  Within 15 minutes of arriving in Rome Cindy was giving directions to an Italian from Milan.  She showed him on our map how to get to Saint Peter’s Basilica!   We walked over 11 miles today seeing the sights of Rome.

Our first stop was at the Spanish steps.  We and several thousand other people posed for their picture on the steps.  We of course were the best looking  couple on that step!

Next up was the Trevi Fountain. The saying goes toss a coin in the fountain and you will return to Rome.

Cindy threw in a dime and a guard came over and made her fish it out and said they only take Euros.

We also went to a time share presentation. I took a photo of them.

I think they are still under construction but with the economy and all, work has slowed down a little!

The next photo is of the gate and community center for the time share.

I think the lady in yellow bought a week!

Oh yea! It wouldn’t be Italy with out our two hour power lunch and our half liter of house red wine!

We had a great time in Rome and would do, “Rome on our own” again.  We got back to our ship at 5PM, just as a Wind Star sailing cruise ship was leaving.  I think we are going to have to try one of them.

P1030045 Oh! the thing with the dime and euro at the fountain I made up. It was a nickel. (No just kidding!)
