Sunshine from Old Sodbury to Cold Ashton

The sun was shining brightly when we set off for our supposedly 9 mile hike today. Almost right away, we were traipsing through the first of many sheep fields along this segment.

Most of these fields were surrounded by stone walls that require walkers to step over them, but we came upon a new type today, called a "squeeze stile". I'm passing through one in the photo below. It's hard to tell, but I've got one leg on each side of the narrow V-shaped opening.

Once again, we enjoyed Mother Nature's handiwork, not only in the colorful autumn leaves, but also in this intricate mushroom colony growing on a tree stump in the woods.

In the village of Tormarton, the Cotswold Way passes by the Church of St Mary Magdalene with 'table tombs' scattered throughout the churchyard.

For the first time during our hike, we crossed a bridge over the M4 highway; it seemed strange to see this reminder of modern civilization after being in such remote and rural areas.

We made our way to Cold Ashton, and those 9 miles our itinerary promised??? Our GPS showed 12.7!!!
